Strengthening International Collaboration in English Language Education: Japan 2024
Osaka, Japan – A delegation of English lecturers from IAIN Kudus, Indonesia, consisting of Ulin Nuha, Taranindya Zulhi Amalia, and Muhammad Arif Al Hakim, recently completed a landmark initiative aimed at fostering international collaboration in English language education. From April 23 to May 2, 2024, the delegation participated in a series of academic discussions and collaborative sessions with several leading Japanese universities. This initiative not only strengthened educational partnerships but also opened new avenues for international conference guest lectures, joint journal reviews, and keynote speaking opportunities, marking a significant step forward in global academic cooperation.
The program commenced in Osaka, where the delegation visited Nara University of Education. They engaged in productive discussions with esteemed faculty members there, including Prof. Masahito Yoshimura and Prof. Sato Rintaro. These meetings focused on exploring collaborative opportunities in English language teaching and research, with an emphasis on curriculum development, faculty exchange programs, and joint research projects. On April 24, the delegation traveled to Kyoto University of Education, where they met with Assoc. Prof. Andrew Obermeier to discuss potential collaborations in areas such as teacher training, student exchange programs, and the integration of technology in English language education. The visit then continued to Naruto and Tokushima, where the delegation collaborated with experts at Naruto University of Education. Assoc. Prof. Suzanne Kamata and Assoc. Prof. Gerard Marchesseau led engaging sessions on English communication, intercultural understanding, creative writing, and global education. These sessions underscored the importance of fostering cross-cultural competencies and innovative teaching methodologies in preparing students for a globalized world.
Throughout the program, the delegation emphasized the value of international partnerships in addressing the evolving challenges of English language education.
