Kudus, March 6, 2025 - In order to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan, the English Department Student Association (EDSA) held a study event with the theme "Bridging Cultures: English and Islamic Wisdom" on Thursday, March 6, 2025, in the 3rd Floor Laboratory. The event, which started at 3:00 PM, featured discussions about the role of English in spreading Islamic values and the importance of teacher ethics and learning from an Islamic perspective.

The event began with an inspiring speech from Ms. Taranindya Zulhi Amalia, M.Pd.., the Head of the English Department at IAIN Kudus. She emphasized the importance of English as an international language that can be used to introduce the beauty of Islam to the world. "English is a bridge that connects us with the global community. By mastering this language, we can share the peaceful and loving messages of Islam with all of humanity," she said.

The next session was led by Mr. Nuskhan Abid, M.Pd., who talked about teacher ethics in teaching and ethics towards students. He highlighted the importance of a continuous connection between the enthusiasm of teachers and students in the learning process. "If teachers are enthusiastic, but students are not, the learning process will not be effective," he explained. Pak Nuskhan also gave a practical example of how a teacher should not embarrass a late student in front of the class.

Kiai Jamaluddin Ahmad, a respected Sufi, gave a lecture full of wisdom. He reminded the audience about the importance of remembering Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala in every aspect of life. "Remembering Allah is easy, just say 'Allah' all the time," he said. Kiai Jamaluddin Ahmad also reminded that ethical knowledge, sourced from Allah, prioritizes understanding over memorization, and is relevant to life, especially during Ramadan.

The discussion then continued with the integration of English and Islamic ethics. The speakers emphasized the importance of using English ethically, including in the use of technology. They also reminded that language fluency should be balanced with ethical awareness. Additionally, teaching should be inclusive, and sincere intentions in teaching and learning are essential. This event provided valuable insights into the importance of English as a global communication tool and how to integrate Islamic ethics into education. Participants were expected to apply these values in their daily lives, especially in their roles as teachers and students.
