Build Confidence, IAIN Kudus Students Attend Public Speaking Training
KUDUS – The English Education Department of IAIN Kudus organized an inspiring event titled Public Speaking at Classroom and Tournaments for Students 2023 on Tuesday, May 8, 2023. The event featured Suciati, M.Pd., as the main speaker and was officially opened by the Head of the English Education Department, Taranindya Zulhi Amalia, M.Pd. This training aimed to equip students with public speaking skills, both for classroom purposes and competitive events.
In her opening remarks, Taranindya Zulhi Amalia, M.Pd., emphasized the importance of public speaking as a key skill for students in both academic and professional settings. “Public speaking is not only relevant on campus but is also a crucial factor for success in the professional world,” said the program head, affectionately known as Bu Taran.
The training session, led by Suciati, M.Pd., covered essential aspects such as articulation techniques, audience engagement, and managing nervousness. Participants were also given the opportunity to practice their speaking skills through speech simulations in the classroom and debate-style presentations. “Public speaking is not just about talking, but about delivering a message with confidence and impact,” Suciati, M.Pd., explained during the session.
The event received positive feedback from students. One participant, Dinda Pramesti, shared that the training motivated her to feel more confident in public speaking. “This has been an invaluable experience. I now know how to engage with an audience and overcome nervousness,” she said. With the success of this event, it is hoped that students will gain more confidence and proficiency in speaking in various forums, both on and off-campus.
