Kudus, Indonesia — On Saturday, July 31, 2021, the Department of English Education at the Faculty of Tarbiyah, IAIN Kudus, conducted a webinar with the subject "Australian English Conversation 101." The webinar was both fascinating and instructive. Simone King, a notable classroom teacher at Berwick College and a prominent member of the Australian-Indonesian Youth Association, was the featured speaker at the event, which was hosted through the interactive platform Zoom.

With a particular emphasis on conversational skills and cultural subtleties, the webinar was designed to provide participants with an introduction to Australian English. In charge of the session was Simone King, who is well-known for her considerable expertise in teaching Indonesian students and for her active engagement in promoting cultural interchange. Through her knowledge, she offered extremely helpful insights into the distinctive characteristics of Australian English and the practical uses of this language.

   

During the lecture, Simone King discussed a wide variety of subjects, including the following topics. Phrases and expressions that are often used in Australian English, along with an explanation of how these phrases differ from those used in other kinds of English. There are some techniques that can help you learn the particular sounds and intonations that are used in Australian English pronunciation.

The understanding of the cultural references and circumstances that have an impact on Australian English is referred to as cultural contexts. The participants were given the opportunity to participate in interactive exercises and to develop their conversational skills based on real-time scenarios. Those who participated in the webinar expressed their satisfaction with King's ability to provide clear explanations and useful recommendations.
