Microteaching Class with French Volunteer, Comparing Teaching Practices between Indonesia and French
Alexis Miss, a French volunteer from the Dejavato Foundation in collaboration with the Faculty of Tarbiyah of IAIN Kudus, participated in the A6BIR micro-teaching class. During the event (25/05/2023), Umi Nikmatus Sa'adah and Andre Husnul Khuluq had the opportunity to be the 'teacher of the day' in the micro-teaching practice. Then, when Andre Husnul Khuluq finished his micro-teaching practice on that day (25/05/2023), Mrs. Taranindya Zulhi Amalia, M. Pd, warmly welcomed Alexis Miss and invited him to join by introducing himself. A sharing and discussion session with Alexis Miss followed this. "How is the teaching and learning process in French schools?", Mrs. Taranindya asked, starting the sharing session.
"In my school learning process emphasizes the use of technology; my classrooms used to be bigger than this microteaching room (VP2). The large classrooms were made to accommodate many students and make it easy to form U-Horse designs for each small group. Then, every classroom is, of course, equipped with a projector in my university. On the other hand, LCDs are not always used for learning. In the classroom, there is a whiteboard used for learning and writing. But, we often use technology for learning which is LCD." Alexis explained.
Next, Mrs. Taranindya Zulhi Amalia, M.Pd invited us (A6BIR students) to join the discussion with Alexis. "What is the Geographical Condition of your City in France?", Shania Wulandari asked.
"Geographical conditions in France vary according to the region of France. However, my city is surrounded by many hills and is in the highlands. The climate is the dry season." He explained. "Well, for more details later, you can travel to France. You can see by yourself". Alexis added.
"Do you see many women wearing hijab in France? What do you think about that?", Eva Nailil Muna (A6BIR student) asked. Alexis replied, "Yes, I find some women wearing hijabs in my city. I think it's up to them because it's their choice. When I meet hijab-wearing women in my city, it's normal." Alexis explained. "Tolerance." He added.
The activity ran well and warmly with Mrs. Taranindya and A6BIR class students and continued with micro-teaching practice class activities. Finally, it was continued with a photo session with Volunteers from France, a collaboration between the Dejavato Foundation and the Faculty of Tarbiyah IAIN Kudus.
