Natural Resource Identification Organized by IAIN Kudus, MSU-IIT Philippines & UNIMUS Semarang
"Natural Resource Identification" is one of the events included in a series of visits and collaborations between IAIN Kudus with a campus in the Philippines MSU-IIT and the Muhammadiyah University of Semarang (UNIMUS) which lasts for 6 days on 5-10 December 2022. Also, the Natural Resource Identification agenda will be held on the 4th and 5th days, it is on 8 and 9 December 2022. On day 4, natural resource identification was carried out at "Kartini" Beach & "Long" Island and observed "Weaving Troso" Traditional Fabric at "Dewi Sinta" Galery. The activity starts at 09:00 am and ends with a road trip in Kudus until the afternoon and dinner in the evening.
The 5th day of natural resources was conducted in Colo, Muria, Kudus. Her activities visited a destination that smelled of production, for the first Kedung gender waterfall in Dukuh Waringin Village, because one of the Lecturers (Mrs. Ulya) recommended the place and had a project in the village. Because the atmosphere is very natural, Kedung gender also takes the leaves and trunks of small trees 2 that fall to make a swipe leaf seminar in Dukuh Waringin village. Then to a coffee warehouse, which is a place for coffee production from post-harvest with the owner (Mr. Teguh), activities in the coffee warehouse are seen in the coffee roasting process and sorting and drying coffee, ending with a coffee drink and a discussion. The next destination to the parijotho production site is the place where parijotho syrup is made with the owner (Mr. Trianto / Mr. Ribut), the activity is to see the production of parijotho syrup making from beginning to end, ending with chatting together discussing and tasting parijotho, because in the Philippines there is also parijotho but it is not used as an ingredient, and after knowing from Indonesia, especially in Colo Muria maybe from the Philippines side get a reference that parijotho can be in use it as an ingredient such as syrup, tea, kombucha, coffee, marshmallow, and Parijotho chips. After that, to the batik place with the owner (Mrs. Yuli), which is the process of making handmade batik which is often visited also from abroad.
The reason for the destination in Colo Muria is because it is related to lecturers from the Philippines from a science background, Mr. Dika Kristiana is a Helper from Indonesian Science for collaboration, so he recommends the production place of natural products developed into processed food ingredients, and from Colo Muria itself many produce natural products into food ingredients. So with that, he directs the destination to Muria, with cold weather with an altitude of 800-1200 meters above sea level, so it is suitable as a place that can produce natural ingredients such as coffee and parijotho.
These two agendas were attended by several participants from the IAIN Kudus Team, especially the person in charge of the Tarbiyah faculty team (Alfu Hikmah.M.Pd., Muhammad Imaduddin.M.Pd., Ulya Fawaida.M.Pd) as well as students and lecturers from MSU IIT. The output of this activity is in the form of Preliminary Data for Cross-Culture Teaching Material & Preparation of Collaborative Activities in the field of Community Service. It is hoped that the implementation of collaborative activities between these 3 universities will create useful cooperation for teaching, education and the creation of good collaboration.
The role of English education study program students in this study was quite large; namely, they participated in helping guide the trip and also explained the culture at the research site to the MSU IIT. Incidentally, in the English education study program, there is a tourism course, this course aims to equip students with English skills, especially those related to tourism. Meeting and serving tourists from various countries will provide a cross-cultural experience that will further enhance students' English for Tourism skills. In this study, English education students had the opportunity to interact directly with research lecturers, both international students from the Philippines who were visiting Kudus. This time they participated in explaining the research tour from Colo, Muria to Panjang and helped the lecturers. According to the students who had the opportunity to take part in this research, they felt that apart from practicing their English skills, it was also beneficial to make connections and make friends with foreigners.
