ONLINE SEMINAR : ENVISIONING THE FUTURE OF TRANSLATION STUDIES IN THE ENTERPRENEURIAL VENTURES AND I

These pandemic and new normal made lectures and students IAIN KUDUS especially English Education Department for being productive and kept giving science to all students by holding online seminar (29/09/2020) with tittle “ENVISIONING THE FUTURE OF TRANSLATION STUDIES IN THE ENTERPRENEURIAL VENTURES AND ISLAMIC FIELD”. The participants can access this online seminar by Zoom aplication and Youtube live in Tadris Bahasa Inggris IAIN Kudus Channel and it have been attended 204 participants from students, lectures and staffs. One of the purpose of this seminar gave insight and knowledge to students of English Education Department IAIN Kudus for their preparation that after graduating translating knowledge would be useful in society and for applying a job.

 

This event was colabortaion between lectures and students of English Education Department which was devoted to 5th and 7th semester students but it was able to 1st and 3rd semester students to join. This online seminar was attended and opened by the chief of English Education Department IAIN Kudus, Alfu Nikmah, M.Pd. And also Muhmmad Arif Al Hakim, M.TESOL (Lecturer of IAIN KUDUS) as moderator. There were two inspirational speakers, Nurul Fadhilah, S.Pd.I., S.Ag., M.TI (Master of Translation and Interpreting University of New South Wales, Australia, Awardee Australia Award 2016) dan Zakia El Muarrifa, S.S., M.I.T.S (Cand.) (Master of Interpreting and Translation Studies, Awardee LPDP Scholarship 2017). both of them gave her experience about translation and interpretation industry in nasional and international.

 

The first speaker was Nurul Fadhilah, S.Pd.I., S.Ag., M.TI who is Director of 125 Translation and Interpretation Service in Aceh. Beside one of Awardee Australian Award 2016, she is freelance translator who was able to translate indonesia-english. She explaned her experience as a translator and interpreter that sometimes it is seemed easy by people, but actually it is not. “ Translating is not only about making language translation, but it is a product of a decision-making process contain about making decision what words to use are equivalent to the words being interpreted”. beside her material, she also delivered the important thing to straighten intention and don’t forget to pray.

 

The second speaker was Zakia El Muarrifa, S.S., M.I.T.S (Cand.), who is active in some organization and now she is continuing her master degree at monash university (interpreting and translation studies, faculty of arts). “... the purpose of translation is to provide possible access for people of any language to get information”, she said in online seminar.
